Suggested Itineraries
Flights & Trains
While Växjö has a small airport, the best way to get there is to fly to Copenhagen (Denmark) and then get a train to Växjö station (the train takes 2 hours).
Flights from Gatwick and Heathrow start at £70 return.
You can find the train times here and we advise to pre-book your tickets: https://www.sj.se/en/home.html#/
We recommend that you have an hour between landing and catching your train to allow enough time to collect your luggage, allow time for delays etc. The train station is conveniently located in the airport directly below the Arrivals area.
(Please note that the last train from Copenhagen to Växjö is at 21:09.)
Alternatively you could rent a car, there are plenty of options at Copenhagen airport.
If you need any advice please don't hesitate to contact mikeandmalin@hotmail.com
Want to make a trip of it?
If you have a few more days to spend with us, please note them in your RSVP.
On Friday 21 July we are organising a day out with free transport to a few local attractions:
-
A quick stop at the the Moose Park (one of Mike's favourites!) http://www.gronasen.se/en/
-
A trip to Kosta Boda glass centre (Småland is well known for its glass making. Get a bargain vs what you would pay in John Lewis, see live glass blowing and try it for yourself) http://kostaboda.se/
-
And if time allows, a final stop at Kronoberg Caste Ruins in a beautiful location on lake Helgasjön where they serve ice cream and Swedish pastries http://www.ryttmastaregarden.se/

Flights & Trains
While Växjö has a small airport, the best way to get there is to fly to Copenhagen (Denmark) and then get a train to Växjö station (the train takes 2 hours).
There are flights to Copenhagen from most major UK airports. You can see the train times and book tickets here: https://www.sj.se/en/home.html#/
We recommend that you leave an hour between landing and catching your train to allow enough time to collect your luggage, get through passport control etc. The train station is conveniently located in the airport directly below the Arrivals area.
(Please note that the last train from Copenhagen to Växjö is at 21:09.)
Alternatively you could rent a car, there are plenty of options at Copenhagen airport. The drive to Växjö will take about two and a half hours. Please note that there is a fee to drive across the bridge between Sweden and Denmark, you can find details of the costs and how to save money here https://www.oresundsbron.com/en/start
You can also rent a car in Växjö or in Malmö.
You could also look at flights to Gothenburg (Göteborg) which is just under a three hour drive from Växjö (please note the trains are not well connected to this airport, so we only recommend to fly here if you want to rent a car)

Wedding Details
In order to allow all guests, including parents, an evening of relaxation we have chosen for our wedding day to be an adult only occasion. We hope this advance notice means you are still able to share our big day and will enjoy having the weekend off!
Dress Code: Semi-Formal
Please note the ceremony will be on grass - opt for a wedge heel or bring a spare pair of flats for the ceremony. Hats are not required, but if you do want to wear one feel free!
It is also custom for women not to wear black.
Seating during the ceremony: Sit on whichever side you like!
Speeches: At Swedish weddings, everyone is welcome to make a speech, toast or perform (e.g. a song or dance about the wedding couple!). If you would like to do something, please email mikeandmalin@hotmail.com or on the day of the wedding let the Toast Master know before the dinner starts and they can put your name on the list. The more the merrier!
The speeches will take place throughout the dinner. During each speech it is courtesy to put your cutlery down while the speech is underway.
